The Plano Barracudas is a summer recreational swim team for the Plano Parks and Recreation Department. They are based out of Liberty Recreation Center and are the only Plano Parks and Recreation youth swim team to practice outdoors. Practice may be cancelled on short notice due to inclement weather conditions.

The Barracudas are affiliated with the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation, and compete in local TAAF swim meets. 2017 TAAF eligibility rules

The Barracudas strive to provide a fun, recreational atmosphere as they expose kids ages 6-18 to the great sport of swimming. The team gives girls and boys the opportunity to swim throughout the summer in a non-threatening environment where they can make new friends and improve their swimming skills. Our coaching philosophy stresses the importance of providing a good balance between stroke work and conditioning as well as providing a fun learning experience for all team members.

The team is open to boys and girls ages 6-10 who can independently swim 25 yards of freestyle or backstroke without stopping and girls and boys ages 11-18 who are familiar with the 4 competitive strokes. A tryout will be conducted after the swimmer is registered to ensure they meet the requirements.

Cost for the 2017 summer season is $125 for residents and $129 for non-residents and you can register online or call Liberty Recreation Center at 972-769-4234. If you have more questions or need more information, please contact us at 972-769-4234 or email us at planobarracudas@yahoo.com.
